Home Wine Making
Home wine making is probably one of the oldest hobbies in existence. The hobby of home
wine making from kits has developed from using blended grape juices, from a variety of different sources, into a
highly sophisticated hobby using top quality kits of single variety grapes with no added glucose or sugar. You will
no doubt notice that, unlike most other kits which by law have to say 'Merlot Type' or purposefully misspell, for
example, as Murlot, Grande Maison Single Variety Grape kits are actually called by their grape name as this is
exactly what the kit contains. Although the quality has improved immensely over the years it is now even easier to
make.
Equipment required

sterilising agent.
- Empty the contents of the bag into a plastic pail with 2
litres of pre-boiled water.
- Make up the balance to 22 litres with cold water and stir
until the grape juice is dissolved.
- Add the sachet of brewing yeast with other sachets (as
directed in the instructions) and stir. Snap on the lid and ensure that the airlock is fitted and primed
with water.
- Within days fermentation will be complete and the wine will
be ready to be transferred to bottles or the supplied bag in box.
- Add the finings sachets as directed in the instructions and
wait for the wine to clear which should take between 3-7 days.
- When the wine is clear syphon 4.5 litres into the supplied
bag and the balance into wine bottles and cork.
- At this stage the wine is ready to drink but like a most
things in life anything worth having is worth waiting for and the wine will benefit from being allowed to
stand for a while.
